ABOUT

Brooke DurrellI am Brooke Durrell and the owner of Ranchos Counseling Services. I am proud to serve Madera Ranchos and rural areas that are lacking support services.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and specialize in working with individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, grief, low self esteem, and life transition issues. I have worked in the mental health field for more than 10 years in non-profit organizations, county behavioral health, and most recently in the school system.

I have experience working with severely mentally ill children, youth, and adults. I have extensive training on trauma work and have seen client’s trauma symptoms reduce and stabilize.

I enjoy working with children and youth and improving the bond within the family. I collaborate with parents to help them learn parenting skills and additional ways to communicate, discipline, and stabilize the family dynamic.

I am solution focused and help clients make and achieve goals. I help clients change the way they think to improve positive thinking and behaviors.

My favorite part of therapy is seeing clients gain skills and tools to deal with life stressors and practice daily wellness and self-care. I focus on identifying and building on your strengths to help you towards wellness in your personal, social, and professional life. You can find out more about me by visiting my profile on Psychology Today.

SERVICES

Individual Therapy

Family Therapy

Group Therapy

I am open on weekdays and can be available some evenings and weekends by appointment only.

TELEHEALTH

Telehealth is accessed by your computer through a direct and secure website link, or through your tablet or phone via a free app. An email will be sent to you confirming your scheduled session with a secure link to the video session or you can download the free Telehealth by Simple Practice App to access the video session.

What is telehealth?

You will be able to communicate with your therapist on screen during your scheduled appointments. You do not need to come to Ranchos Counseling for these appointments. Telehealth can be just as effective as in-person appointments, and we can continue your care without interruption. Please find a confidential space that you feel comfortable in during your appointment such as your bedroom so you can focus and not be around others. You will be able to receive handouts, worksheets, and resources electronically via a client portal before sessions, during sessions, and/or after sessions.

FEES

The cost of a session varies based on private pay or insurance. If you are using your insurance, you will pay your co-pay, or deductible first if you have one. If you are private pay, the rates are $85 for a 50 minute individual or family therapy session. Telehealth services are available and are the same rate of $85 for a 50 minute session. Group therapy is $35 a session.

INSURANCES

I currently take United/Optum, Anthem Blue Cross, Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, MHN Behavioral Health, MHN Health Net, Cal Viva Medi-Cal, Magellan, and Halcyon. I am happy to create superbills for “out-of-network” clients. A superbill is when clients pay for their services out of pocket and I provide you an invoice to submit to your insurance to try to be reimbursed.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What can I expect my first session?

Before your first session, you will receive an email (if approved by you) to login into a client portal and complete some paperwork that will be reviewed at our first session. Some paperwork are intake forms and about policies. There are other informational forms that help me get to know you more. If you do not have access to a computer, tablet, or phone to utilize the client portal then the forms will be available to you at your first appointment.

My office is in the back of the Madera Ranchos Professional Offices so it is a more private entrance. When you arrive I will greet you in the front area. If I am with someone else please take a seat and wait for me to greet you in the front area. If you have not completed paperwork already by the first session, I will have forms waiting for you to be completed.

The first session is 60-90 minutes which will consist of getting to know you more by helping me understand what you are struggling with and areas you would like to improve in. We would then determine how often we would like to meet to make progress towards your goals. Clients most often are seen for sessions once a week or once every other week. After the first session, therapy sessions typically are 45-60 minutes long depending on insurance or private pay. Clients are expected to actively participate in therapy sessions, utilize strategies discussed, and complete assignments between sessions to help gain progress towards goals.

Online client portal lets you complete intake forms, message me, make payments, and receive helpful documents and tools from me. You can also receive text or email appointment reminders.
